商品描述

Paint Mesh Remover is a Unity editor extension for VRChat avatars. Paint the parts of a mesh you want to remove, right in the Scene view — sleeves, hems, body under clothes and more. The painted triangles are removed only in the uploaded avatar (NDMF, non-destructive). Your original mesh, FBX and prefab are never changed, so you can unpaint any time.

No avatar models are included (tool only).

How it works

  • Select a mesh (body, clothing...) and left-drag on it in the Scene view. Painted parts turn red.
  • Shift + drag to unpaint. [ and ] change the brush size. Ctrl+Z works.
  • Paint depth: paint only the front surface under the brush, or deeper.
  • Mirror left/right, paint whole connected parts, invert, clear.
  • Upload as usual (or press Play). Only the painted triangles are removed. Bones and blendshapes are kept.

Free vs Full

  • Free trial: all the painting tools above, so you can paint and see the red preview on your own avatar. The painted parts are NOT removed at upload.
  • Full: removes the painted parts at upload.

Importing the Full version over the Free trial keeps your painting.

Carefully tested before release

Made by Kotokoto Lab, an independent creator. This version was tested on 3 popular free avatars plus the chibi version of one of them: on each, the number of triangles removed at upload (with Modular Avatar and Avatar Optimizer installed) matched the painted count exactly, and blendshapes were kept. Also tested in a clean project with only the VRChat SDK, NDMF and Avatar Optimizer installed.

If the mesh is replaced after painting (another FBX, or another tool that swaps the mesh at upload before this one runs), the old painting is skipped with a warning; paint again. If you move the avatar or change blendshapes while painting, press "Refresh pose". Removing triangles does not remove vertices or bones; use Avatar Optimizer if you also want those cleaned.

Requirements

Unity 2022.3 (tested on 2022.3.22f1), VRChat SDK3 Avatars, NDMF 1.14 or later (tested with 1.14.8; comes with Modular Avatar / Avatar Optimizer). Works on Skinned Mesh Renderers and Mesh Renderers.

How to install

  1. Download the .unitypackage (Free trial or Full) and drag it into the Project window, then click Import.
  2. Open Tools > Paint Mesh Remover. The window has an "English" checkbox at the top.

Terms

OK for personal and commercial use. Do not redistribute or resell the tool. Follow each creator's terms for avatars and clothing (check whether removing polygons is allowed as a modification). Use at your own risk; back up important projects first.
