Wind — Avatar Wind Effect for VRChat

Bring a breeze to your VRChat avatar. Make compatible hair, capes and skirts sway, send wind toward nearby friends, and add flowing wind lines, petals or leaves—all from your Expressions menu.

FEATURES

• Choose who is affected: Self, Others or Both.

• Particle options: Wind Lines, Petals, Leaves or None.

• Synchronized settings so other players see your selected effect.

EASY SETUP WITH MODULAR AVATAR

1. Import Wind-English.unitypackage.

2. Drag Assets/PhioWorks/WindGimmick/Prefab/WindGimmick.prefab onto your avatar in the Hierarchy.

3. Upload your avatar.

Modular Avatar integrates the menu, parameters and FX at build time. No manual menu or parameter editing is required. To remove Wind, delete the prefab from your avatar and upload again.

REQUIREMENTS AND COMPATIBILITY

• VRChat Avatars SDK 3.10.5 or later.

• Modular Avatar.

• Tested with Unity 2022.3.22f1 on PC.

• Android / standalone Quest has not been tested.

AFFECTING NEARBY AVATARS

Nearby avatars must allow PhysBone collisions, have a PhysBone Radius greater than 0, and allow interaction with you in Avatar Interactions. The documented approximate range is 2.5 m to either side and 3 m downwind; the effect scales with avatar height. Respect other players’ preferences and interaction settings.

PERFORMANCE

• 8 PhysBone colliders: 4 global and 4 self colliders.

• Self colliders are registered on eligible PhysBones during the build. Avatars with many PhysBones may have a higher collision check count.

• 2 particle systems, up to 250 particles.

• 1 material and one 128 px texture.

• 15 bits of synchronized parameters.

The avatar, outfit, VRChat SDK and Modular Avatar shown or mentioned in the presentation are not included.
